Tasting Notes
An enticing mix of citrus fruit and bakery aromas appear from first whiff. Aromas of freshly baked croissants spread with warm French butter and topped with a thin layer of preserved lemon/lime marmalade captivate. There is clear vinous appeal with classic citrus chardonnay flavours, combined with extended lees ageing notes of brioche and bready qualities at the fore. On the palate, a bright and fresh entry of grapefruit flavours is accompanied by creamy notes and citrus pith. Green and red apple tarte tatin springs to mind as the impeccably balanced frame of acidity and texture carries the wine to great lengths. Overall, the complete package of complexity, depth, balance and refreshment is on show here.
Winemaker's Notes
100% chardonnay, made using traditional methods, fermented in bottle and aged on yeast lees for five years and eight months prior to disgorging in July 2024.
Vintage Notes
A warm, wet spring followed by a dry summer/autumn period delivered good crops in near-perfect harvesting conditions.
