Tasting Notes
Light straw in colour. Aromas of freshly picked pear and red apple, grapefruit citrus, lime leaf and rose floral. There is a complexity here too from the solids fermentation with flecks of gun flint and a note of freshly cured dough just hovering in the background. The plate is fresh and lively with juicy pear and pink grapefruit flavors. Textural yeasty notes are all framed by a crisp line of acid that flows through the palate.
Vineyard Notes
This wine was sourced from the north-facing Hazeldene Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale.
Winemaker's Notes
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine - handpicking and whole bunch pressing with full solids to old 500 litre casks followed by natural fermentation and subsequent maturation on lees prior to bottling.
Vintage Notes
A very long, cool growing season with low crops and abundant rainfall has resulted in wines with outstanding aromatic qualities and string varietal definition.
