Tasting Notes
Pale straw with green hues. Citrus blossoms, white fleshed stone fruit, melon skin, grilled pinoli, flickers of gun flint and spice add to the complexity. The palate is powered by a tightly bundled core of fruit and driven by a taut acidity that shapes the wine without overpowering it. Textural elements add complexity to complete the package. Refreshing, pure and flavoursome.
Vineyard Notes
This wine was sourced from the north facing Hazeldene Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale.
Winemaker's Notes
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for a natural fermentation followed by 10 month maturation on lees.
Vintage Notes
A cool spring wet spring, mild summer and a long, dry autumn with low crops has resulted in strong varietal characters and fine persistent acidities.
