Vibrant purple with a purple red hue. Luscious fruit aromatics leap from the glass - blackberry, dark cherry and plums, with hints of black olive and pepper and the slightest fleck of oak framing it all. The palate is pure fruited, all blackcurrant, plum and red currants with a spice element adding complexity. Bright yet balanced acidity and fine, long tannins are supportive of the fruit. Layered and textured with both poise and presence.

This wine was sourced from the north-facing Oakridge vineyard sited in the grey alluvial loams of Coldstream.

A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – 70% whole berry and 30% whole bunch fermentation in open vessels followed by 14 months maturation in French oak puncheons.

A warm, wet spring followed a dry summer and autumn has delivered good crops in near perfect harvesting conditions resulting in strong varietal characteristics.
