Tasting Notes
Bright, pale straw in the glass. It unfurls with a delicate yet intricate bouquet, immediately greeting you with fragrant orange blossom and the verdant freshness of pea shoots. Underlying these are brighter notes of zesty lemon pith and aromatic lime peel, all grounded by a distinct sense of cool wet stone. The palate is wonderfully vibrant, offering an initial burst of crisp pineapple that dances across the tongue. This tropical lift is beautifully balanced by a savoury depth and that continued mineral, wet stone character. The texture is glassy and pure, leading to a long, clean finish that echoes with bright citrus and a subtle, refreshing salinity. Overall, this is a beautifully composed and energetic white, promising a graceful evolution in the cellar.
Vineyard Notes
This wine was sourced from the upper Yarra north-facing Willowlake Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale.
Winemaker's Notes
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine - handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for a natural fermentation and a 10 month maturation on lees.
Vintage Notes
A long, late and cool growing season with very low crops delivering wines with exceptional flavour, freshness and balance.
