Tasting Notes
Pale straw in colour with an opaque straw hue. Vibrant aromas of lime, lemon butter and citrus blossom with a flinty reduction adding complexity. The palate is pristine and fresh with a precision like acid line driving the wine. There is texture here too with light chalky elements and great depth of citrus fruits. Great drinkability and true varietal expression.
Vineyard Notes
Sémillon – from old French séme, meaning seed. The Oakridge vineyard was once a seed farm, growing Brussels sprouts. A local rarity, of which we have five short rows, only 150 dozen bottles have been produced.
Winemaker's Notes
Handpicked and whole bunch pressed directly to old 500 litre French oak casks for fermentation and maturation on lees for 3 months. The wine received a single filtration before being bottled in June 2020.
Vintage Notes
A cool, long vintage with abundant rainfall and very low cropping levels has resulted in wines of great purity and high natural acidity.
