Tasting Notes
Bright crimson in colour with a garnet hue. Lifted fruit aromatics of crushed strawberry, raspberry and pomegranate, with a floral perfume note and hints of green spice. Whole bunch characters add complexity. The palate is seductive and vibrant, awash with a spectrum of juicy red fruits. Hints of brown spice and earth add layers and depth. The tannins are fine, velvety and intricately woven with the fruit. A soft line of acid holds the wine's shape to a decadent fantail finish.
Vineyard Notes
This wine was sourced from the north facing Willowlake Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale.
Winemaker's Notes
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – 80% whole berry fermentation with 20% whole bunch inclusion in open vessels for two weeks followed by a 10 month maturation in French oak barrels.
Vintage Notes
A cool, long vintage with abundant rainfall and very low cropping levels has resulted in wines of great purity and high natural acidity.

The Real Review - 96pts
“Medium-deep red-purple colour; intense and bright spice aromas, nutty/smoky barrel and foresty fruit aromas combine to give a complex and savoury bouquet, the same flavours on palate where it’s full and rich, generous and sustained, the flavours extending long through the aftertaste. Lovely wine, loaded with charm.” – Huon Hooke
Wine Reviewer - 96pts
“A vibrant but light red in the glass with floral aromatics of red cherry with beautifully filamented spice and touch of stem. Medium bodied with expressive fruit that takes on a touch of savoury flare and oak derived richness. The fruit is so pure and build with impact all whilst holding a savoury backdrop. Touch of rose petal as an embellishment to finish. These 2021’s from Oakridge are exceptional.” – Patrick Eckel
