Tasting Notes
Straw with bright green hues. Classic Oakridge style chardonnay: white flowers, nectarine, cinnamon baked apple, hints of flint and a flicker of burnt match complexity. There’s generosity and depth to the palate, with that richness tamed by a grapefruit pith phenolic touch and lemon citrus backbone of acidity. Line, length and depth in an unbroken flow across the palate.
Vineyard Notes
Selection for this Chardonnay focused on premium fruit from the cool slopes of the Upper Yarra Valley, Gladysdale (Willowlake) and Wandin East (Barkala), with a touch of estate fruit from Coldstream.
Winemaker's Notes
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for natural fermentation followed by a 9-month maturation on lees.
Vintage Notes
A cool and long growing season with low crop levels and abundant rainfall has resulted in finely detailed wines of purity, length and complexity.
